The Rotary Club of Absecon/Galloway and Mainland held a car wash on Sunday August 24, 2008 to raise much needed funds for the South Jersey Food Bank. The goal was to raise a substantial amount of donations by washing cars with all the proceeds going directly to the Atlantic County Branch of the Food Bank in Egg Harbor Township. The clubs raised over $1,000.00 by washing cars over just a few hours. Rotarians from both clubs presented the check to Evelyn Benton of the South Jersey Community Food Bank.
Evelyn Benton, Branch Director of the South Jersey Community Food bank was the guest speaker at the club’s August meeting and she urged the Rotary Club of Absecon/Galloway to help in anyway they could to support their efforts.
